SAHARA NOIR - SACRED BURNING INCENSE SCENT by TOM FORD

   It took me a long time to write this article. Mainly, because of the incredibility of this perfume.

   Holy sacred incense, filled into a bottle.

   First time, I tested this perfume, when it just arrived on the market. I remember vividly, that it had nothing to do with the other Tom Ford fragrances, which I knew till that moment. After the first sniff, I directly rejected it. It was so overpowering, so overwhelming, so... untypical to be called perfume. It had nothing, to do with the classical imagination and expectation of the meaning of "perfume".

   My very first thought was - "It smells Church"! It really smells burning Incense in Church! From the bottle, it smells exactly dry, smoky burning incense with a hint of dry desert sand! I was confused and amazed, the same time.

  

   But, the moment you spray it, it opens like fresh incense aroma - something very bitter, like the heart of black olive and papyrus, blending on the background; the Oud can be detected;  

   According to the official description of SAHARA NOIR: 

"TOM FORD PRESENTS HIS NEW FRAGRANCE INSPIRED BY THE MYSTERY AND LUXURY OF THE MIDDLE EAST. EVOKING THE UNTAMED BEAUTY OF THE ARABIAN PENINSULA, SAHARA NOIR IS TOM FORD'S ODE TO THE ENCHANTING POWER OF ONE OF THAT LAND'S MOST TREASURED INGREDIENTS: FRANKINCENSE, A PRECIOUS DESERT RESIN."

  You can find the burning incense tradition everywhere in the East:  

   In the Christian tradition


 

   In the East traditions - Hindu, 
Buddhism, Islam... 
   Also, in the modern days spiritual traditions.

   The Frankincense, Incense, Resin or one of its kinds - it's
EVERYWHERE!

   If you are not into the spiritual traditions, you can't understand or at least, you can't become friends with this perfume, easily. 

   It's dry-spicy-woody aroma, with hints of flowers, which are not easy detectable. In the different temperature and environmental conditions+your own body chemistry, you can catch some notes.

TOP NOTES:

Bitter Orange, Calamus, Cypress, Labdanum

HEART NOTES:

Egyptian Jasmine, Moroccan Rose, Incense, Papyrus, Beeswax, Cinnamon

BASE NOTES:

Labdanum, Benzoin, Vanilla, Cedar, Amber, Agarwood (Oud), Egyptian Balsam

   Once it settles down, it stays close to your skin and it's not annoying. Maybe, in very hot weather, will bother you, if you are not familiar with this type of scent.

   CONCLUSIONS

  I find this perfume very rare and precious. It's only for appreciators of this kind of scents. I know, I repeat this in my article, but I want to make underline - yes, it is for appreciators. It needs to be understood. In order to be understood, you must love such perfume compositions.

   My personal advices and tips, based on my own personal experience with SAHARA NOIR:

• Wear evening
• Don't not wear on clothes - can smell for days
• Don't wear in restaurant or date ;)
• Don't wear in children environment - can be irritating
• Don't wear in office (if you don't have individual one) - it can be annoying for your colleagues - not everyone can stand whole day such fragrance (or fragrance in generally)
• If you don't want to feel overwhelmed by the scent, but you want to apply it on your skin - spray on the area behind your knees, keeping distance 15-20 cm (it requires to wear dress)
• If you don't want to spray a lot of on your skin or hair, but you want to have just hint of this perfume - spray 1-2 times (maximum) in the air and pass through the cloud. That's well enough.

   You can wear on special occasions - evening events - cinema, theatre, night out. The suitable clothes must be in elegant style. With its desert "connection" - the closest associations are about black, golden colors, dark green, dark red, navy blue.

   If you think, that this is your fragrance, and if you are true appreciator of such compositions, than grab it! You won't regret! ONLY in this case, I RECOMMEND IT!
